About Us

About Pontblyddyn CC

Pontblyddyn C.C. is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Wales with records dating back to the mid 1800’s. In a beautiful setting on the Hartsheath Estate, with rivers flowing on three sides of the ground it has been commented upon by many that it is one of the most picturesque grounds in Great Britain and possibly unique in so much as Sir Garfield Sobers on a visit stated that it was the only ground in the world where he had to cross a river bridge to reach the field of play.

We play in the North Wales Cricket League, our 1st XI play in Division One, and our 2nd XI play in Division Two.  Our 3rd XI team introduces young players on the verge of senior cricket to the longer format of the senior game playing in the Sunday Third team division.  2024 is the first season for our Ladies team playing in the NW League after the team was formed during the 2023 season.

We are proud of our junior section, we are one of the few North Wales clubs to have teams at under 9, 11, 13, and under 15 levels competing in the NEWJCD leagues and CBW national competitions. We encourage girls to play and have several playing at the different age groups and in the ladies team.

2017 saw the introduction of "All Stars" the ECB initiative to introduce 5 to 8 year old boys and girls to the game of cricket. We will be once again participating in the All-Stars  in 2024.

The youngsters are the future of cricket, and their development is nurtured at Pontblyddyn, we look to give every youngster the opportunity to fulfil their potential and have developed good links with local schools to encourage youngsters to become involved. So anyone interested, boys or girls please come and join us – contact: Nick Thomas -  juniororganiser@pontblyddyncc.org.uk

Pontblyddyn is an Accredited Club and holds the prestigious CLUBMARK award, for which the club has to be re-Accredited every 3 years, indicating that we are a club that is well managed and organised.

As a community sports club we welcome new members, young and old, we promote a social inclusion policy and we are always looking to encourage local groups to use our clubhouse and facilities. Please get in touch if you are interested in hiring our fully licensed club-house for birthday parties, christenings, business meetings (Wi-Fi available) etc. Touring teams are always welcome at all levels.
